In Jimmy Garoppolo’s first season with the San Francisco 49ers, he won all five of his starts after taking over for a 1-10 team. His second season in the Bay Area was cut short after he suffered a torn ACL in week three but in just his third year with the club he bounced back strong and took the Niners all the way to the Super Bowl.
Of course, Garoppolo and the 49ers would lost to Patrick Mahomes’ Kansas City Chiefs, 31-20, in the big game.
They had the lead late in the fourth quarter, but they blew it. Despite that fact, there’s still reason to believe that Jimmy G can get this team a title if they continue to mature. Just don’t tell that to Skip Bayless.
The outspoken sports media personality was in full-on hot-take mode Monday morning, going as far as saying the Niners should cut Garoppolo and sign Tom Brady for two years if they want to improve their chances of getting a Super Bowl in the next couple of seasons.
Jimmy G is 19-5 in his 24 starts with San Fran. In his first ever playoff appearance as a starting quarterback in the NFL, he won two games and led his team to a Super Bowl…
And, yet, Skip Bayless is already prepared to pull the chute on him.
