Denver Broncos quarterback Russell Wilson had a frustrating outing against his former team on Monday Night Football, and it appears as those his hand signals had something to do with it.
Wilson’s debut with the Broncos fittingly took place against the Seattle Seahawks at Lumen Field. The future Hall of Famer completed 29 pass attempts for 340 yards and one touchdown. But he was sacked twice, and the Broncos went 0-for-4 on red zone trips.
Sideline cameras caught Seahawks star wideout Tyler Lockett, who played seven seasons with Wilson, picking up on No. 3’s hand signals. As you can see in the clip below, a clever Lockett is giving his teammates the heads up:
Lockett didn’t have his best day on the stat sheet (three catches for 28 yards), but he found a pivotal way to contribute for his team from the sidelines. Colby Parkinson finished as Seattle’s leading receiver with two catches for 43 yards and a touchdown.
The game’s crazy ending was one of the main talking points throughout the week. Broncos first-year head coach Nathaniel Hackett curiously had Brandon McManus attempt a 64-yard field goal rather than have the offense go for it on 4th-and-5 from the Seattle 46.
McManus missed the kick wide left, sending Lumen Field into a frenzy. The Seahawks were able to run out the clock for a tight 17-16 victory.

After 10 seasons with the Seahawks, Wilson was sent to the Broncos in a package deal which netted Seattle five draft picks, tight end Noah Fant, defensive end Shelby Harris and backup quarterback Drew Lock.
The Broncos will try to pick up their first win of the Wilson era when they host the Houston Texans on Sunday afternoon. As for Lockett’s Seahawks, they’ll aim for the perfect 2-0 start when they visit the San Francisco 49ers.
