Contrary to his words over the past 48 hours, Miami Dolphins star wideout Tyreek Hill may not end up requesting a trade after all.
Immediately after the Dolphins wrapped up their regular season with a Week 18 road loss to the New York Jets, Tyreek Hill indicated to reporters that he would request a trade. Hill talked about having to do what’s best for his family before and said, “I’m out, bro.”
Hill later took to X/Twitter and seemingly bid farewell to Dolphins fans with this message:
Love fin nation blessing yall opened doors for the Hill family forever nothing ,but respect and love
— Ty Hill (@cheetah) January 6, 2025
But on Tuesday, Dolphins GM Chris Grier told reporters that Hill never actually requested a trade, per ESPN’s Marcel Louis-Jacques. Additionally, head coach Mike McDaniel said he had a “direct” and “honest” conversation with the 30-year-old wideout.
On top of that, folks noticed that Tyreek Hill changed his X profile picture back to himself in a Dolphins jersey:

Before the season, Hill signed a three-year contract extension with the Dolphins worth $90 million. The eight-time Pro Bowler was coming off a career year in which he caught 119 passes for 1,799 yards and 13 touchdowns, with the latter two marks leading the NFL.
In 17 games this season, Hill had just 81 catches for 959 yards and six touchdowns. Those numbers marked Hill’s lowest since the 2019 season (58-860-7), though he missed four games that year.
Dolphins Have A Tough Decision To Make With Tyreek Hill
Even if Hill walks back on his trade request, it’s clear that he’s not 100 percent committed to the organization long-term. The Dolphins need to decide if it’s worth holding onto a player who will be 31 next season, or if they’d be better off trading him for a significant return.
The 2025 NFL Draft has plenty of promising wide receiver prospects, so Miami could easily find a quality replacement if they were to trade the future Hall of Famer.
