Philadelphia Eagles defensive tackle Jalen Carter has been named in a crazy shoplifting rumor.
Carter was selected by the Eagles as the ninth-overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft despite significant legal concerns given his involvement in a fatal car crash earlier this year.
The rookie has managed to put all of that behind him and is having an incredible first year in Philly. But there’s now a rumor circulating online claiming he tried to make off with items he did not pay for from a downtown store.
Jeff Nadu, who describes himself as a “Sports Bettor. Content Creator. Hoops Junkie. Mafia & Crime Historian & Host of @sitdowncrimepod” on X, is claiming to have heard from police sources that the player recently got into a confrontation with security after attempting to walk away with bags of unpaid groceries.
Carter is said to have been in an argument with someone who is presumably his girlfriend when he grabbed the bags and headed out of the store before he was stopped by security. Nadu adds that the Eagles were informed and made calls to have the DT released.
This information is sketchy at best, but it is out there.

Meanwhile, the individual making the claims has been identified and called out as someone who perhaps should not be believed. Check out the video below:
If there’s any truth to what he’s claiming, though, it certainly does not seem like Jalen was trying to steal groceries but was storming out in a heat-of-the-moment situation without realizing his mistake.
The rookie is on a contract that pays him over $5 million a year; he could certainly do without shoplifting.
