The San Francisco 49ers have received another concerning injury update on star running back Christian McCaffrey, less than 24 hours after their stunning Week 3 road loss to the Los Angeles Rams.
Speaking on “Monday Night Countdown” before the doubleheader, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that Christian McCaffrey is flying to Germany to see a specialist on his Achilles tendonitis.
McCaffrey has yet to play this season as he recovers from a calf/Achilles injury. The 49ers placed the All-Pro running back on injured reserve before their Week 2 road loss to the Minnesota Vikings.

Miami-based sports medicine Dr. Jesse Morse shared his own interesting analysis on Christian McCaffrey, stating that he wouldn’t be going to Germany if his “injury is straight forward.”
At any rate, the 49ers will just have to wait and see what the latest update is on McCaffrey as he awaits word from the expert in Germany. For now, the 49ers will continue to lean on Jordan Mason in the ground game.
Not only is the latest injury update on “Run CMC” concerning, but the 49ers also learned on Monday night that they’ll likely be without superstar defensive tackle Javon Hargrave (a torn triceps) for the season.
49ers Are Clearly Missing Christian McCaffrey
The 49ers’ 1-2 start is all you need to know. This offense clearly can’t function the same without the league’s best running back, and Christian McCaffrey’s absence was especially felt in their loss to the Rams on Sunday.
San Francisco also didn’t have All-Pro wideout Deebo Samuel (calf) or tight end George Kittle (hamstring) in Week 3. Mason has been admirably productive in the ground game, but McCaffrey is also explosive as a pass-catcher, with a 1,000/1,000-yard season under his belt.
