A new Netflix docuseries exploring the life of Aaron Hernandez made waves mid January with its release after it alleged the late New England Patriots tight end had engaged in a sexual relationship with another man prior to his death in 2017.
Hernandez’s former fianceé recently had a sit-down interview to talk about the claims made in “Killer Inside: The Mind of Aaron Hernandez.”
Shayanna Jenkins-Hernandez told ABC News’ Amy Robach she was unaware of her financé’s intimate relationship with a former high school teammate, but also noted she “would not have loved him any differently” had he been hiding his sexuality, but wished he would have told her had it been true.
“If he did feel that way or if he felt the urge, I wish that I was told. I wish that he would’ve told me ’cause I wouldn’t — I would not have loved him any differently. I would’ve understood. It’s not shameful and I don’t think anybody should feel shameful about who they are inside, regardless of who they love. I think, I think it’s a beautiful thing,” she told ABC News’ Amy Robach. “I wish I was able to tell him that.”
The entire interview was played on Wednesday morning and jenkins also stated how she believes Hernandez was innocent of the murder he was convicted of.
“Do you still believe your fiance was innocent?” Robach asks in the interview.
“Yes, of course I do,” Jenkins responds. “I’d be a cold person to leave someone that had nobody at all.”
“What was in the documentary that shouldn’t have been, in your opinion?” asks Robach.
“I would have to say Aaron’s sexuality,” replies Jenkins. “You can’t describe someone’s sexuality without them being here. Although I have a child with Aaron, I still can’t tell you how he was feeling inside. No one can.”

Hernandez was found guilty of murder in April 2015 for the killing of Odin Lloyd, a charge that in Massachusetts automatically carries a sentence of life in prison without a possibility of parole.
Police investigated the possibility that Lloyd may have learned of Hernandez’s bisexuality and that Hernandez was worried that Lloyd might out him to others.
