The last thing any team wants is to see their roster begin to become depleted after just one week of preseason action. And yet, that’s where several teams are already finding themselves.
The latest NFL team to suffer a major loss following their first preseason game is the Philadelphia Eagles.
According to reports, Eagles linebacker Shaun Bradley suffered a ruptured Achilles during the team’s preseason loss to the Baltimore Ravens on Saturday. As a result, he will be lost for the entire 2023 season.
It’s a tough blow for Philly, as Bradley has been described as a “core” player on their special teams, playing on 69 percent of the Eagles’ special teams snaps last season.
Bradley was once again expected to play a major role on that unit, but he also had an opportunity to finally make a mark on the defensive side of the ball as well. Entering training camp, the Eagles had a clear lack of depth at linebacker after losing T.J. Edwards and Kyzir White in free agency.
They recently signed veterans Myles Jack and Zach Cunningham, as they look to find a third starting linebacker to line up alongside Nakobe Dean and Hasson Reddick.
