One attempt at a joke on the SEC Network set led to a tense and awkward moment between analysts Peter Burns and Benjamin Watson on Saturday.
It all went down at halftime of the Florida vs. Vanderbilt game when the topic of suit colors came up. Burns made a comment about Watson’s suit being the only light-colored one on set. Watson reposnded by bringing up his wife.
“As long as I get a text from my wife that says I look good,” Watson said. “Send me the text, baby. Send me the text.”
Things got bad for him when Burns did it too.
Burns chimed in, saying, “That’s not the text she sent me.”
Watson was clearly upset by Burns’ joke and Doeren went to a commercial break. When the crew came back, only Doeren and Spikes were visible on set, and Watson returned to his seat shortly afterwards and he looked pissed. Doeren asked Watson if he told Burns to “keep your wife’s name out your mouth.”

Doeren tried to keep things light, but Watson clearly wasn’t in the mood.
On social media, Shannon Sharpe chimed in and gave his take on the situation.
“Everyone doesn’t play those sexual in nature wife jokes. I know Ben personally. He definitely doesn’t play about the wife. Ben is very religious. He liked to lost all his religion in 5 sec.”
Time will tell how things end up, but we are pretty sure that Burns will never stray down that road again.
