Fox Sports’ Shannon Sharpe took exception to what Aaron Rodgers said when he recently spoke about Green Bay’s recent five-game losing streak.
Rodgers felt the need to say that “I’m still the reigning, defending two-time MVP.”
“I always believe in myself first and I bet on myself first to go out there and to impact the game and to be great. I still know I have within me. I’m still the reigning, defending two-time MVP. Regardless who’s out there with me, guys want to come battle they know where to find me. I’ll be in the center of that huddle, expecting greatness, trying to inspire the best I can and lay it out on the line.”
That comment rubbed Sharp the wrong way.
Sharpe called the comments “despicable” and claimed that his previous accomplishments have nothing to do with where the Packers stand this season.
“I’ve never heard in 30 years someone in a losing streak mention what they are. What the hell that got to do with [us] now?” Sharpe exclaimed. “I should be more disgusted that you’re the two-time MVP and we’re sitting here at 3-6. … And again what is it about? He’s got to mention what he is. Not the team. … It’s all about him. Always about him.”

This past Sunday, the Packers suffered a 15-9 loss to the Detroit Lions and dropped the Packers to 3-6 on the season. Rodgers had a terrible showing as he threw three costly interceptions near the goal line that turned a winnable game into yet another crushing loss for the back-to-back MVP in this trying 2022 season.
The Packers schedule doesn’t get any better as they have Cowboys, Titans, and Eagles, who combined this season carry a record of 19-5. Getting zero wins against these teams will almost assure that the Packers won’t have a shot to make it to the postseason this year, and that will be a complete failure.
Rodgers has thrown for 2,091 yards, 14 touchdowns, and seven interceptions through the first nine games of the season.
