It’s been about a year now since actress Shailene Woodley and Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers called off their engagement.
Woodley and Rodgers began dating in 2020, and she later revealed in a Feb. 2021 interview that they had gotten engaged. Before his relationship with Woodley, Rodgers had been with actress Olivia Munn and NASCAR racer Danica Patrick.
Woodley, who achieved worldwide fame for her roles in “The Descendants” 2011 film and “The Secret Life of the American Teenager” television series, opened up on her relationship with Rodgers during an interview with Porter:
“It honestly never really hit me that millions of people around the world were actually watching these things and paid attention to them. Then, I dated somebody in America who was very, very famous. It was the first time that I’d had a quote-unquote ‘famous’ relationship, and I watched [the] scrutiny, opinions, the desire for people to know my life and his life and our life – it just felt violating in a way that, before, it was fun. I’m a very private person, and so I found that any time I posted anything, I instantly felt like I was sharing too much of who I am with people I didn’t necessarily trust.”
Woodley added that filming “Three Women” was difficult to work because she was “going through the darkest, hardest time in” her life, adding that her “personal life was (expletive).”
While Woodley continues to enjoy great success in films and television series, the future for Rodgers is a lot more uncertain. The four-time league MVP has yet to announce if he’ll play football in 2023, or if he’ll end up retiring altogether.
After leading the Packers to three straight NFC North division titles from 2019 to 2021, Rodgers and company finished 8-9 and missed out on the postseason altogether. The 39-year-old signed a three-year, $150.8 million extension with Green Bay last year, but only time will tell if he comes back to honor that contract.
