Missing former NFL player Sergio Brown is looking more and more like a suspect after his mother was tragically found deceased. The search for Sergio Brown continues as his mother’s death is reportedly being investigated as a homicide.
On Saturday, Myrtle’s body was recovered from a creek less than 100 yards from her home in suburban Maywood. The Cook County medical examiner said she died of “multiple injuries from an assault.”
Now comes reports that Sergio was seen taking out the trash and burning clothes belonging to his mother in a bonfire. The footage was taken from a ring camera of his neighbor.
When speaking to the family, the neighbor, Cortez, claimed they spoke about how Sergio’s behavior had been the recent months.
“They said he wasn’t himself the last few months. He was out of his mind,” he said.
“They seen him taking out the trash, and they seen him have a bonfire where he burned all her clothes,” Cortez claimed of the allegedly retrieved footage.
“I just hope that the family has closure, and I’ll be praying for them. I hope the family gets through this. And I’ll keep them in mind in my prayers.” said Cortez.
Sergio’s whereabouts were unknown until videos on Instagram appeared to show him in Mexico. Police desperately want to locate and talk to the 35-year-old who played six seasons in the NFL before he retired in 2016.

Authorities said Tuesday they are probing a video uploaded to Instagram on Monday that appears to show Sergio calling the case “fake news.”
“They kidnapped me twice from home, the Maywood Police Department,” he says.
He adds, “It had to be the FBI or the Maywood police. I thought my momma was on vacation.”
The man ends the clip saying, “That’s f—ing fake news. Get the f— out my goddamn face.”
Sergio Brown, who started his NFL career with the New England Patriots, joined teams like the Indianapolis Colts, Jacksonville Jaguars, and Buffalo Bills.
