It’s another lengthy injury report for the Seattle Seahawks ahead of Sunday’s Week 14 game against the San Francisco 49ers, and Thursday’s practice included starting quarterback Geno Smith.
Geno was a limited participant with a groin injury. Considering the 33-year-old told reporters on Thursday that his arm “was still not 100%” and “not close to it,” this groin injury makes things even worse.
In the meantime, the team made a move to combat his injury by signing quarterback Sean Mannion to their practice squad.
The former third-round pick has been around the NFL since 2015.
Mannion was recently released from the Vikings’ practice squad. The 31-year-old veteran will provide the Seahawks with depth in their quarterback room.
In 2021, Mannion started one game for the Vikings and completed 22 of 36 pass attempts for 189 yards, one touchdown, and no interceptions. In 14 career games, he has 573 passing yards, one touchdown, and three interceptions.

He has experience working with current Seahawks offensive coordinator Shane Waldron, having spent two seasons together with the Rams.
The addition of Mannion gives the Seahawks a third quarterback after the Jets signed Brett Rypien off Seattle’s practice squad earlier this week.
