To the surprise of a ton of people, the Seattle Seahawks have stood pat at quarterback since trading Russell Wilson. They did re-sign Geno Smith, who has been a backup for seven years.
And they don’t regret passing on QBs in the 2022 NFL Draft. General manager John Schneider previously downplayed the ability of this year’s rookie QB class to excel in the pros.
On top of that, Seattle believed Liberty’s Malik Willis was “nowhere near NFL-ready,” according to ESPN.
“It’s hard for rookies,” Schneider said, per ESPN. “It’s very hard on rookies to come in here and (compete right away). You have to have unique, unique qualities … Continuously throughout the draft, it just didn’t fall the right way for one reason or another.”
The 2022 NFL Draft was considered to be weak at the quarterback position.
Lock, who went 42nd overall to the Broncos in 2019, is entering a contract year. In 2021, Lock appeared in six games for the Broncos and completed 60.4 percent of his passes for 787 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions.
31-year-old Geno Smith has made five starts over the past seven seasons. Three of those came last season, his third with the Seahawks. He passed for 702 yards, five touchdowns and one interception. He also rushed for 42 yards and a touchdown.

If the Browns end up releasing Baker Mayfield, the Seahawks will surely look into adding him to this mix.
