What on Earth were the Seattle Seahawks even thinking about here?
With under 5 minutes to play in the first half of their game against the New Orleans Saints, the Seattle Seahawks decided they would try a fake punt to see if they could catch their opponent off guard.
Instead, the Saints sniffed it out and punter Michael Dickson had no where to go. He just danced around in the backfield for a bit, trying to make it look like he was going to give it a rugby punt, then got hit and fumbled the ball.
Soon after Taysom Hill would score his second rushing touchdown of the game.
It was a questionable call from Seahawks coach Pete Carroll, regardless of the execution. The game was tied at the time and Seattle was deep in their own territory. It’ll be interesting to see what Carroll has to say about this decision in his post-game press conference.
