For the 5th-straight offseason, we are having swirling speculation about Colin Kaepernick returning to the NFL, and just like the previous four, it’ll likely lead to nothing.
The Seattle Seahawks have been dealing with an unhappy QB in Russell Wilson, but he hasn’t demanded a trade from the franchise. That did not stop his agent from laying out four possible destinations he would like to go if a trade were to happen.
The Chicago Bears were on that list and have been mentioned the most.
“I expect the Chicago Bears to at least take their shot here because a source told me Russell Wilson likes that they have an emerging offensive line, a good offensive-mind in Matt Nagy, and an intriguing market in Chicago,” ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler said on SportsCenter.
Should Wilson find his way off the team, Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio mentioned Colin Kaepernick as an option to replace him.
“There’s something else the Seahawks could do, if they trade Wilson. They could finally give Colin Kaepernick (who is only one year older than Wilson) a full and fair workout, undeterred by the possibility that Kaepernick would divide the locker room on the question of whether he or Wilson should play. (In 2017, given the lingering presence of veterans who resented Wilson, that was a very real possibility.)”
Back in 2017, the Seahawks passed on signing quarterback Colin Kaepernick due to financial reasons. Since becoming a free agent, Kaepernick’s only visit with a team was in Seattle.

“He’s a starter in this league,” he said, per Fox Sports’ Andre Vergara. “We have a starter, but he is a starter in this league and I can’t imagine somebody won’t give him a chance to play.”
The 33-year-old has not played in the NFL since 2016.
