Former New Orleans Saints head coach Sean Payton is a hot commodity and he certainly knows it, which is why he is taking full advantage of it.
There are several teams that would love to have him. Those teams are the Houston Texans, Carolina Panthers, Denver Broncos, Indianapolis Colts, and Arizona Cardinals.
Payton is far and away the prized jewel of this offseason’s coaching candidates, but how much would it take to lure Payton back to the sidelines? Jeff Duncan of NOLA.com had the answer.
Teams will have to pay between $20 million to $25 million for Payton’s services. That is a high asking price, but if you want your terrible team to stop sucking, then they need to shell out the cash to get the man they want.
Duncan, who reported the salary range, provided additional context.
“The dirty little secret here is that NFL coaches make way more than most realize. Their salaries are often under-reported because NFL owners do not want to publicize the true compensation. Sean Payton’s salary requests are in line with the NFL’s elite coaches.”

Payton also has a proven record for making the playoffs, leading New Orleans to the postseason nine times, including four of his last five seasons before stepping away from the job after the 2021 campaign.
If you want the man, you will have to pay the man.
