Now that the Carolina Panthers have moved on from Matt Rhule, they are officially in the market for a new head coach.
The Panthers would be an intriguing destination for any possible suitor, as they already have a solid, young core on defense, and some elite playmakers on offense. With the right head coach (someone who can properly run an offense and coach-up a quarterback), this team could be closer to contention than many think.
But who could be capable of providing this type of guidance to a Panthers team that is currently in disarray? One name that seems to be coming up early and often is former New Orleans Saints head coach Sean Payton.
Of course, the Saints are still in control of Payton’s future, as they own his rights until 2024.
However, as has been pointed out, everyone has a price. And I’m sure if the Panthers were willing to meet New Orleans’ price, the Saints would be more than willing to send Sean Payton to a division rival.

Exactly what that price would be remains to be seen, but you can bet we’ll be hearing more about this possibility as the Panthers’ coaching search heats up in the coming days.
