Sean Payton hasn’t even been out of the NFL for a year now, and it appears as though he’s already itching to get back in the game.
In fact, he’s so set on making his return to the NFL that he’s already putting together an “All-Star staff” to join him upon his return.
According to a report from ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Payton has been eyeing his return to the NFL, and he’s been making a list of people who he’d like to join him at his next coaching stop, wherever that may be.
Among those on Payton’s wish list is former Denver Broncos head coach Vic Fangio, who is highly regarded as one of the top defensive minds in the game. Fangio is currently a defensive consultant for the first-place Philadelphia Eagles, but Payton is hoping to bring him on as a defensive coordinator.
The 64-year-old Fangio has spent time with several NFL teams over the years, including the Baltimore Ravens, New Orleans Saints, San Francisco 49ers, Indianapolis Colts, and Chicago Bears.
At the moment, it is anyone’s guess where Sean Payton might land next year. He is currently working with Fox’s broadcast team, but there are several coaching positions that are expected to open up once the regular season ends. Two teams, the Indianapolis Colts and the Carolina Panthers, have already fired their head coaches this season and are working with “interim” coaches at the moment.

Other teams who are expected to have vacancies open up by season’s end are the Denver Broncos, Houston Texans, and possibly even the Dallas Cowboys if they put up another dud in the playoffs under Mike McCarthy.
