Stetson Bennett, a 2023 fourth-round pick, spent his entire rookie campaign on the reserve/NFI list due to an undisclosed non-football illness.
The former Georgia Bulldogs quarterback has not had the start to his NFL career that he had hoped. It would be announced in November that he hadn’t been seen since it was announced that he was on the non-football-related injury list.
He never returned back to the team.
Los Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay was asked about Bennett and he seemed unsure about the future.
McVay made it clear Stafford is expected to be the team’s quarterback in 2024 but he did not provide much clarity on whether he expects Bennett to be with the Rams in 2024.
“You know, I don’t know that. I think that’s a conversation for another time. I think he’s doing better, but I wouldn’t be in a position to answer that accurately right now.”
The Rams fell to the Detroit Lions in the wild-card round of the NFL playoffs in Matthew Stafford’s return to Detroit.

Since Carson Wentz is not guaranteed for the 2024 campaign, the Rams will continue to search for a quarterback to start behind them in the backup role.
Bennett was selected with pick 128 in the NFL draft of 2023. When healthy, he was supposed to be the backup quarterback for the Rams, but his future in Los Angeles is now in doubt.
Bennett finished his Georgia career with 8,429 passing yards and 66 touchdowns.
