It appears Seahawks safety Julian Love was extra motivated for Seattle’s matchup against the Eagles on Monday night.
The 25-year-old made two big plays in the win over Philly, snatching a pair of interceptions to help his team to a 20-17 win on the night. The performance might have come as a result of going up against Nick Sirianni.
Prior to even taking the field, Love had already criticized the Eagles head coach as he claimed Sirianni was on a “free ride” given how easy it is to coach the NFC outfit. With Sirianni preparing to lead his team out against the Chiefs in the last Super Bowl, Love went on NFL Network’s ‘Good Morning Football’, where he was asked for his thoughts on the coach’s proclivity for trolling.
“I don’t like it, I don’t like it at all,” he said. “I mean, he’s in for a free ride right now. You guys could coach this team in can succeed. I mean, come on.”
Love was still with the Giants back then. But, having gotten an opportunity to play Sirianni’s team on Monday night, came up big for the Seahawks. He yanked down a deep pass meant for Quez Watkins with around half of the fourth quarter remaining and made another INT to seal the win with less than 10 seconds to go.
“I just had a good feeling that they were going to go to number 11,” he said after the game. “A.J. Brown is a real deal receiver, and I was honestly watching him that entire play. I was in the post, I saw the double move, and I just took off. I saw the ball floating, and I must be living right, because I got my feet in, thankfully.”
