The entire landscape of the NFL could be quite different if one trade had gone down a few seasons ago.
NBC analyst Chris Simms revealed on Monday he heard a wild rumor between the Seahawks and Browns that floated around before the 2018 NFL Draft. He stated that Seattle was rumored to be offering QB Russell Wilson to Cleveland for the No. 1 overall pick, presumably to take either Baker Mayfield or Sam Darnold.
The Browns, of course, held onto the pick and took Mayfield at No. 1 overall.
Wilson has gone on to throw for 7,558 yards, 66 touchdowns, and only 12 interceptions.
In two seasons, Mayfield has 29 starts in 30 games played, while throwing for 7,552 yards, 49 touchdowns, and 35 interceptions.
The Seattle Seahawks have since agreed to a new deal with Russell Wilson in 2019 that was for four years and $140 million, with $107 million guaranteed and includes a no-trade clause.
