JJ McCarthy could be a very early pick in the NFL Draft, as his stock has been on the rise since he helped Michigan win the national title earlier this year.
While McCarthy wasn’t initially thought to be among the elite college quarterbacks of the incoming class, he has won many people over in recent weeks. He could even go as high as third when the NFL’s selection process materializes later this month.
McCarthy perhaps did not have to display all of his talent at Michigan, given that Jim Harbaugh preferred a run-heavy offense. But he’s been tipped as a player who could be as good as Joe Burrow in an offense that prioritizes passing.
Meanwhile, the quarterback’s attitude toward football is believed to have left an impression on NFL scouts, as it’s been revealed that he was letting other Wolverines recruits know that he wasn’t joining the program to waste time.

“Before he signed, he was telling other Michigan recruits that if they wanted to party and chase girls, go somewhere else,” a scout was quoted as saying. “His class was going to be the one that restored Michigan. To have that mentality and then actually go achieve it? He’s different.“
It’s now clear that his commitment paid off.

JJ McCarthy Could Be The Patriots’ Choice
The New England Patriots have the third-overall pick in this year’s draft and could use it on JJ McCarthy.
USC’s Caleb Williams is expected to be the No. 1 overall pick, with a move to the Bears thought to be a foregone conclusion. Meanwhile, the Commanders are reportedly keen on making LSU star and Heisman Trophy winner Jayden Daniels the No. 2 overall pick.
Some expect that it will either be McCarthy or UNC’s Drake Maye for the Pats unless they agree to trade for the spot.
“We’ll see if anything changes in these last two weeks, and that would mean Caleb Williams goes 1, Jayden Daniels goes 2, and that would bring us to New England, which I think would have a decision to make as to whether it would take either Drake Maye or J.J. McCarthy,” ESPN’s Adam Schefter said on a recent episode of his podcast.
McCarthy has done his prospects very little harm, but we’ll just have to see which way New England decides to go.
