A new host for ESPN’s ‘Monday Night Countdown’ has been named following the departure of Suzy Kolber.
According to Andrew Marchand of the New York Post, Scott Van Pelt will take the lead on the program and will be joined by Marcus Spears, Ryan Clark, and Robert Griffin III.
Both Van Pelt and Laura Rutledge were under consideration for the role after Kolber was laid off in June, but SVP edged Rutledge out as he remains one of the favorites where management is concerned.
Van Pelt, who hosts the late-night edition of SportsCenter, as well as postgame shows after ‘Monday Night Football’, is now in a position to host the Super Bowl when it’s on ABC/ESPN.
Meanwhile, Spears continues to rise at ESPN, having recently signed a new four-year deal with the company worth close to $7 million.

Clark has also become a respected media member and is believed to have gotten interest from ‘Inside the NFL’, which is now on THE CW following a spell on Paramount Plus. RGIII was previously part of said show.
Rutledge will continue in her role as the host of ‘NFL Live’ and the network’s SEC Nation pregame.
