Scott Hanson tripped over his shoelaces during NFL RedZone on Sunday as he described a former United States President as ‘late,” though he’s still very much alive.
Hanson does have one of the hardest jobs on television as he spends his Sunday afternoons hopping from one football game to the next for over seven hours. So, when he makes a mistake, viewers tend to be very understanding.
This Sunday afternoon happened to be one of those times as he mistakenly claimed that Jimmy Carter was dead while announcing that the former President’s wife, Rosalynn Carter, had just died. The former First Lady was 96.
Carter is 99 years old and is still around. He and Rosalynn were married for 77 years.
Scott eventually corrected himself, but he drew quite the reaction from fans.

Meanwhile, Carter has made a statement on his wife’s passing.
“Rosalynn was my equal partner in everything I ever accomplished,” he said. “She gave me wise guidance and encouragement when I needed it. As long as Rosalynn was in the world, I always knew somebody loved and supported me.”
Our hearts go out to the Carter family during what must be a very difficult time.
