The Aaron Rodgers to Jets rumors is heating up.
Aaron Rodgers’ next move is highly anticipated because he could retire, return back to the Packers, or make his way to another team. There’s one connection that has been heating up since Week 18 ended.
Rodgers is being linked to the New York Jets, and the latest buzz came in an article published Thursday in The Athletic. The report said to expect the Jets “to be involved in any trade discussions.”
If it does happen, Sauce Gardner is not opposed to having Rodgers as the Jets QB. The star defensive back appeared on “Fitz and Harry” on ESPN Radio and was asked about Rodgers.
“He’s definitely great. He’s definitely elite,” Gardner said. “He’s been doing it [since] damn near before I was born. I can’t discredit nothing that he do. I’ve seen him do so many good things. He’s a great quarterback for sure.”
Asked specifically if he’d want Rodgers on his team, Gardner said, “I wouldn’t mind that. I want what’s best for the offense. But, at the same time, I just gotta focus on my job and focus on what we’ve got going on on the defensive side.”

If this trade were to go down, the Jets may need to give the Packers at least two first-round draft picks, which is a steep price for a quarterback who could retire now or after the 2023 season.
Despite that, “Broadway” Joe Namath urged the Jets to target Rodgers.
“I’m a big Rodgers fan. I notice that he wears No. 12, of course,” Namath said on “Tiki & Tierney.” “I’m thinking, ‘Well, man, if we get him on our side, is he still going to be wearing No. 12? Because the number was retired many years ago. … I’d sure like Rodgers, if he’s there, yeah, I want him to wear his number, man.”
Rodgers played in 17 games this season. He had 3,695 passing yards and 26 touchdown passes.
The Packers fell one win short of going to the postseason.
