Saturday Night Live may not be what they once were, but they can and still have the power to make powerful statements while making people laugh at the same time.
During the Weekend Update segment, Colin Jost spoke about President Joe Biden’s recent nomination of Ketanji Brown Jackson to the Supreme Court. He then used that moment took a hialrious shot at the National Football League and their use of the Rooney Rule.
“Biden chose Jackson after interviewing three finalists this week. ‘Weird. I thought interviewing Black candidates was just for show,’ said the NFL,” Jost said.

The Rooney Rule was instituted in 2002 and named for former Pittsburgh Steelers owner Dan Rooney. It requires teams to interview at least two minority candidates for every open head coaching position and other senior roles.

Unfortunately, teams have been abusing it by selecting who they want and just fulfilling the rule by interviewing minority candidates with no intentions of hiring them.
That is one of the reasons Brian Flores has filed a lawsuit against several teams as well as the NFL as a whole.
