The Saquon Barkley saga has been one of the most well-documented storylines of the 2023 NFL offseason.
After putting together a monster 2022 campaign and helping to lead the New York Giants to the playoffs for the first time since 2016, Barkley was hoping the team would back up the Brinks truck for him this summer.
That hasn’t been the case, however… at least not yet. But based on a new report that has emerged from “The Carton Show,” it looks like Barkley, the Giants and their fans could all be getting what they wanted very soon.
According to the report, Barkley is closing in on signing a long-term deal with the Giants that will pay him roughly $14-million per season.
As Craig Carton stated, there is a “better than 50-50 shot” that a deal gets done by Monday’s all-important deadline.
The pressure has been on both sides to work something out, especially over the past few weeks, as they only have until Monday’s 4pm deadline to complete a contract extension before Barkley has to settle for playing on the franchise tag in 2023.

Barkley was previously accused of turning down a $14-million offer from the Giants — a rumor that he quickly shot down on Twitter.
The 2018 second-overall pick is coming off a monster season in which he put up 1,312 yards and 10 touchdowns on the ground in 16 games. He also had 57 receptions for 338 yards though the air.
The one major knock on Barkley has been his inability to stay healthy, as 2022 marked just the second time in five years where he’s be able to play in at least 16 games. If the injury bug comes back to bite the former Penn State star, this contract extension could turn out to be a huge mistake for the G-Men.
