Saquon Barkley got an early taste of New York’s ire during an appearance at a New York Knicks game on Thursday night.
The Philadelphia Eagles running back was around to watch the Knicks eliminate the Philadelphia 76ers from the playoffs with a Game 6 win.
Sitting courtside next to new Eagles teammate, wide receiver A.J. Brown, Barkley was treated to some boos from fans, who are still upset over his decision to leave the New York Giants and join their NFC East rivals.
“It’s been two months… lol no way ya can still be this mad! Mf can’t even go to a basketball game 😂😂😂,” he tweeted thereafter.
The star RB had very good reasons for leaving the Giants, but fans are probably never going to see it that way. As far as they’re concerned, he left them for a rival.
Knicks announcer Walt “Clyde” Frazier even referred to him as a “turncoat” on the MSG broadcast.

As poor luck would have it, his former city’s team was pitted against his new city’s team in the first round of the NBA playoffs. A Pennsylvania native, Barkley was there to support the 76ers.
Saquon Barkley Has A Message For New York Sports Fans
The RB’s tweet garnered a mix of comments, with Eagles fans saying they can’t wait to watch him play for them next season and Giants fans hitting him with criticism.
“You bailed. On New York. Sow the wind, reap the whirlwind,” a Mets fan told him, prompting a response from the new Philly star.
“Let me educate some of you fans here…,” he shot back. “I can’t bail or become a traitor if I never got an offer to come back.. so I went to the organization I felt that was the best and after already being here for a month man I’m excited to be a eagle ! Go birds 🦅.”
Unfortunately for Barkley, the 76ers won’t be winning a championship this year as they were eliminated on the night. But he will have a chance to help take the Eagles back to the Super Bowl next season.
