Saquon Barkley’s agent is not going to like his answer about his next contract, but he was entirely honest about it. The New York Giants are going to have to make decisions on quarterback Daniel Jones and running back Saquon Barkley, among other players on the team, going into the offseason.
The Giants running back was asked about his future with the team after the 38-7 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles on Saturday night. He will become an unrestricted free agent unless the Giants place the franchise tag on him.
Barkey was entirely honest about his next contract when asked by reporters.
“I can’t envision that being my last time in a Giants uniform,” Barkley said following his team’s divisional round playoff loss, via NFL Media.
“I’m not really too concerned with resetting any markets,” Barkley said. “I’m realistic. I know what I was on pace to do, but having two years of injuries doesn’t help. But I think I was able to show the caliber of player I am.”
Barkley was in the final year of his rookie deal when the team picked up his option for the 2022 season in 2021. He earned the second Pro Bowl selection of his career in 2022.
