Deebo Samuel’s time with the San Francisco 49ers is officially over, as the team has given his agent permission to seek a trade.
Samuel has been the subject of exit rumors for the past year but stuck it out with the Niners after their heartbreaking loss to the Kansas City Chiefs in the Super Bowl last February. It now appears that the 2024 season will be his last with the team.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the wide receiver and his agent, Tory Dandy, have been granted permission to find a trade partner.
Deebo Samuel Requested A Trade At The End Of The Season
The player asked the team to trade him during the players’ exit meetings at the end of the season, and he will be allowed to leave.
“It was a hard conversation to have with Kyle (Shanahan) because of the relationship that we have,” he said. “But I have to do what’s best. I’m more than thankful for the Niners giving me the opportunity of a lifetime, but now I think it’s best that we find another team.”
Samuel was a second-round pick by the 49ers in 2019 and was a first-team All-Pro and a Pro Bowler in 2021.
