The 2023 NFL Draft produced plenty of heartwarming moments last week. And, while Will Levis won’t soon live down the embarrassment of attending the first round without hearing his name called, there have been many feel-good stories stemming from selection weekend.
A few days removed from the draft, the San Francisco 49ers have added wide receiver Isaiah Winstead to their roster, announcing as much via their official website.
Winstead has joined the NFC outfit as a free agent, having appealed to NFL teams to give him a chance while showing off a highlight video. The wideout, who stands at 6ft 4in tall and weighs 210 LBS, said he did not receive any offers or a rookie minicamp invite.
His tweet caught fire, going viral as fans called for a team to give the player a chance to prove himself.
The 49ers bit, offering Winstead a lifeline. But he will have to fight tooth and nail to make it into the team’s final roster.
The former East Carolina WR made 88 catches for 1,085 yards last season, impressing after stints at Toledo and Norfolk State. He will now have an opportunity to prompt some regret around the league.

We do hope he grabs it with both hands and avoids the axe when it begins to swing ahead of the 2023/24 season.
Good luck, Isaiah!
