The San Francisco 49ers have revealed Deebo Samuel’s status for the NFC Championship Game following his ordeal against the Green Bay Packers on Saturday night.
Samuels left the Divisional Round clash vs. Green Bay in the first half because of a shoulder injury, having previously been cleared after getting checked for a head injury. He would not return to the field and wasn’t in uniform when he was shown on the sideline in the second half.
The Niners star had missed two games during the regular season after suffering a hairline fracture against the Cleveland Browns in Week 6, so there was reason to worry when it became clear that he would have no further involvement on Saturday.
The wide receiver claimed to be okay after the game. NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported on Monday that the wideout has avoided a fracture, although his status for Sunday’s game against the Detroit Lions remains unclear.
Samuels may play through the injury vs. Detroit as there would be a longer break between then and the Super Bowl should they win.
San Francisco struggled to move the ball without him in the second half against the Packers. They would be keen on avoiding similar circumstances against a formidable Lions defense.
