Wow! This came out of nowhere. It was believed that the New Orleans Saints, Carolina Panthers and the Cleveland Browns were in a three horse race for Deshaun Watson’s services, as all three teams had booked meetings with the Texans quarterback in Houston.
The Saints and Panthers were the first to emerge with scheduled meetings with Watson, before the Browns’ meeting was announced earlier today.
Then, shortly after, it was revealed that the Atlanta Falcons had jumped into the race as a serious contender, as Watson has close ties to the franchise dating back to his days as a Falcons ball boy.
And now, it appears we may have a new suitor, and they must be a serious one, as Watson is said to have scheduled a meeting to meet with the San Francisco 49ers.
According to NFL Insider Jordan Schultz, the Niners plan to meet with Deshaun Watson, with serious interest in trading for the star QB.

Schultz points out that the Saints are still frontrunners, but the Niners are an intriguing name here.
However, NBC Sports Bay Area reporter Matt Maiocco has come out to refute the report, stating that a source has informed him that no meeting between Watson and the Niners is set to take place at the moment.
It should be noted that, even without a meeting, the Niners could still be interested and involved in the Deshaun Watson trade talks.
The Niners may not have first round picks in the next two years to offer Houston in a deal, but they do have a young phenom quarterback in Trey Lance — whom they spent all those first-rounders on — that they can dangle in front of the Texans. They also have both of their second- and third-round picks over the next two seasons, as well as three additional third-round compensatory picks.
All of those, as well as roster players like former first-rounders Brandon Aiyuk and Javon Kinlaw, could all be in play.
