The 49ers are a very good team, but they are on tap to lose a prized asset in the franchise.
49ers assistant general manager Adam Peters, the unsung hero in their front office, is in high demand. Both the Commanders and the Raiders have requested to interview him for their vacant general manager positions as the team gets ready to embark on a pivotal playoff run as the number one seed in the NFC.
The 49ers absolutely cannot afford to lose Peters and it appears it is nothing they can do about it.
Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports the finalists for the Washington Commanders for a President of Football Operations are San Francisco 49ers assistant general manager Adam Peters and Chicago Bears assistant general manager Ian Cunningham.
The Los Angeles Chargers and Las Vegas Raiders have also reportedly expressed interest in speaking with Peters. The 49ers executive is high in demand and it has been that way after each of the past three offseasons.
Just last year, he declined interview requests from the Tennessee Titans and Arizona Cardinals, choosing to remain in Santa Clara. It does not look like he is declining any interviews this year.

Peters joined the 49ers in 2017 when John Lynch was hired as the general manager and has been there ever since. He is in his 21st season and has previously worked in various roles with the Denver Broncos (2009-16) and New England Patriots (2003-08) before joining the 49ers.
The San Francisco 49ers accomplished their first goal in their 2023 campaign, and that was securing the No. 1 seed in the NFC. With the No. 1 seed locked up, the team has earned a first-round Bye with time to rest, recover, and prepare for their postseason run.
