San Francisco 49ers fan Daniel Luna is suing the Los Angeles Rams over an alleged vicious attack that took placing during the 2021 NFC Championship Game nearly eight months ago.
TMZ Sports obtained Luna’s lawsuit which was recently sent to the Los Angeles Superior Court.
Luna’s lawsuit alleges that during the second quarter of the game, a man named Bryan Alexis Cifuentes “pursued and pushed” Luna before punching him in the face, per TMZ Sports. Luna spent five weeks in a medically induced coma and came out of it in March, TMZ Sports reported at the time.
The Rams and Cifuentes, who was subsequently charged with felony assault, have been sued by Luna. Last month, Cifuentes pleaded not guilty.
Though the contest took place inside the Rams’ home venue of SoFi Stadium, which they share with the Chargers, the NFC Championship Game featured plenty of 49ers fans. SoFi Stadium was also taken over by 49ers supporters during the Week 18 game vs. LA three weeks earlier.
The 49ers held a 17-7 lead in the fourth quarter of the NFC Championship Game, but Los Angeles rallied to tie the game before Matt Gay made a 30-yard field goal to put the home squad up 20-17 with less than two minutes to go.
Los Angeles clinched the NFC Championship when Travin Howard intercepted Jimmy Garoppolo, who was trying to avoid a sack from Aaron Donald. The Rams went on to defeat the Cincinnati Bengals in Super Bowl 56, fittingly inside their own venue.

It won’t be long until the Rams and 49ers renew their storied rivalry. The two clubs will meet in San Francisco on ESPN Monday Night Football in Week 4, and again four weeks later in SoFi Stadium.
Los Angeles fell to 0-1 after losing to the Buffalo Bills in Thursday’s Kickoff Game. San Francisco will open their season with a road tilt against the Chicago Bears this Sunday.
