The simple restructuring of a key player’s contract has football fans thinking that the San Francisco 49ers are on the verge of a blockbuster trade.
Per ESPN’s Field Yates, the 49ers restructured the contract of veteran defensive lineman Arik Armstead. The restructuring gives San Fran $11.78 million in cap space, and as Yates pointed out, a whopping $41.5 million in salary cap space heading into Week 1.
With all that cap space, NFL fans started floating around some big-named players that they think the 49ers could trade for.

The 49ers are one of the prime favorites to win Super Bowl 58, so with a plethora of cap space, it only makes sense for GM John Lynch and head coach Kyle Shanahan to look at adding more to an already loaded roster.
San Fran went all-in last year by trading for Carolina Panthers’ star running back Christian McCaffrey last year, and that move paid major dividends. So quite frankly, why shouldn’t the 49ers make another in-season blockbuster deal?
