San Francisco 49ers rookie wide receiver Ricky Pearsall will miss at least four games as he continues to recover from a gunshot wound to the chest suffered on Saturday.
Ricky Pearsall was on his way to an autograph session when a 17-year-old male attempted to rob the rookie of his Rolex. Pearsall fought back against the robber and was shot in the chest during the altercation.
Thankfully, Pearsall survived and avoided serious injuries. He was released from the hospital just one day after the shooting. Police arrested the suspect (who’s from Tracy, California) soon after the shooting transpired.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Pearsall has been placed on the reserve/non-football injury list ahead of Week 1. This means he will miss the first four games of his rookie season.
If he’s cleared to return by then, Ricky Pearsall can debut as soon as Oct. 6, when the 49ers play host to Kyler Murray’s Arizona Cardinals in a Week 5 afternoon clash.

Pearsall was selected 31st overall by the 49ers in the 2024 NFL Draft following an excellent final season at Florida. In 2023, Pearsall caught 65 receptions for 965 yards and four touchdowns.
The 49ers will kick off their season with a home tilt against old friend Aaron Rodgers and the New York Jets on “Monday Night Football” next Monday at Levi’s Stadium. They’ll visit the Minnesota Vikings and Los Angeles Rams before coming back home to take on the New England Patriots in Week 4.
Ricky Pearsall’s Health & Safety Is The Main Priority
Pearsall’s health, safety and recovery is far more important than the game of football. Pearsall and the 49ers simply will not rush his return to the field following Saturday’s horrific incident.
Here’s hoping that Pearsall’s recovery continues to go smoothly and that he’s in good spirits. We’ll continue to provide information on his health and recovery when they become available.
