Bad news for the Dallas Cowboys as one of their star defensive players could find himself unavailable to the team following his recent run-in with the law.
According to reports, second-year defensive end Sam Williams was arrested by Frisco Police on Sunday for chargers of unlawful carrying of a weapon and possession of a controlled substance.
The possession of a controlled substance charge is a result of police finding marijuana on Williams. The charge is considered a “low-level felony,” while the weapon charge is a misdemeanor.
The Cowboys are said to be aware of the arrest and have declined to comment.
Williams was drafted by the Cowboys in 2022 with the 56th overall pick. The former Ole Miss Rebel finished his rookie season with four sacks, three fumble recoveries and a forced fumble. He’s expected to be a big part of Dallas’ defense once again as the team looks to erase the bitter taste from last year’s playoff exit and make it to their first Super Bowl since the 1995 season.
The good news for Dallas is they have plenty of depth on the defensive line, should Williams be forced to miss any time.
