Your QB should never take hits like this.
In his attempt to score a 4th quarter touchdown against the Atlanta Falcons, QB Sam Darnold took a major hit that had him almost losing his helmet and slamming his head on the turf.
The hit appeared to be a textbook clean tackle, as the impact forced Darnold’s helmet to nearly come off, and not the helmet-to-helmet hit. The quarterback had to be taken to the sideline to be evaluated for an injury following the hit.
Darnold has since been ruled out for the game. He’s been replaced under center by former XFL star P.J. Walker. Despite being without their starting quarterback down the stretch, the Panthers were still able to hang on for their first victory since week 3.
