Detroit Lions cornerback Saivion Smith suffered a serious injury on the first defensive possession in the team’s Week 5 matchup in New England.
The situation was serious after he tried to jam Patriots TE Hunter Henry. He fell awkwardly to the side and was motionless on the ground.
Smith was quickly placed on a stabilizing backboard and an ambulance sped onto the field. His injury must’ve been serious, because soon his father would come down from the stands to meet him.
Smith’s father got into the ambulance and accompanied his son to a local hospital, where he was being evaluated for a neck injury.
