It looks like Jamaal Williams will be scoring a ton of touchdowns for another team for the foreseeable future.
Heading into the 2023 NFL free agency tampering period, many believed that it would not take too long for the Detroit Lions to announce a contract extension with RB Jamaal Williams. Things changed rather quickly. According to a report from Tyler Dunne, Willams and the Lions were “far apart on a deal.”
Dunne noted several teams, including the Bills, Bengals, Panthers, and Bears, were in the mix.
However, Williams would go on to sign with the Saints.
Two years ago, Williams signed a two-year, $6 million contract, after spending the first four seasons of his career with the Green Bay Packers. He excelled with the Lions and even showed interest in returning after the team finished the year 9-8.
Last season, Williams played in all 17 games and recorded 262 rushing attempts for 1066 yards and 17 touchdowns. He also recorded 12 receptions for 73 yards.
