A massive trade proposal has the New Orleans Saints sending superstar cornerback Marshon Lattimore to a top AFC Super Bowl contender.
Marshon Lattimore has been mentioned in trade rumors throughout the offseason, even though the Saints haven’t at all indicated that they’re shopping the four-time Pro Bowler. But of course, GM Mickey Loomis just might be willing to part with his star player if the right trade offer comes along.
Bleacher Report’s Alex Kay proposed five blockbuster trade ideas that should occur before the 2024 NFL season starts. One of Kay’s proposals has the Saints dealing Lattimore to the Houston Texans in exchanged for a 2025 third-round pick:
“If Lattimore is made available, expect the Houston Texans to come calling.
The Texans have spent the offseason loading up on veterans to make a deep run following last year’s surprise trip to the Divisional round. After unearthing a franchise quarterback in C.J. Stroud, Houston’s brass is clearly trying to maximize the team’s Super Bowl chances by bringing in pricy pieces the team can only afford while Stroud is locked into a cheap rookie scale contract…
Lattimore makes for an ideal starter across from Derek Stingley Jr., giving Houston one of the best cornerback tandems in football while second-round rookie Kamari Lassiter gets brought up to speed.”
The Saints have been stuck in a tough cap situation for numerous years, but they’re clearly against the idea of rebuilding. The free agent signing of Chase Young, coupled with the 2024 first-round pick of plug-and-play offensive tackle Taliese Fuaga, are clear-cut indicators that New Orleans wants to compete in 2024.

Lattimore has been one of football’s best shutdown corners since his 2017 rookie year, racking up 86 pass defenses, five forced fumbles and 15 interceptions. Of course, he’s also a key reason why New Orleans consistently churns out a top-10 defense, so it’ll take a pretty penny for Loomis to part with him.
Marshon Lattimore Makes Sense For Houston
The Texans already have two young cornerstones on defense in Derek Stingley Jr. and Will Anderson Jr. GM Nick Caserio also added veterans Denico Autry and Danielle Hunter in free agency to bolster an already stout defense.
But a player like Lattimore could also be the final piece that helps Houston get over the top in the gauntlet that is the AFC. A Lattimore-Stingley cornerback tandem would be problematic for the likes of Patrick Mahomes, Joe Burrow, Josh Allen, Lamar Jackson and Trevor Lawrence in the AFC.
So if the Saints are listening to offers for Lattimore, Houston should definitely place a call.
