Jameis Winston’s 2021 season ended prematurely after he suffered his season-ending injury, so the last thing the team would want is for him to get injured at training camp.
Unfortunately, Winston appeared to tweak his foot during 7-on-7 drills today. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the 28-year-old “rolled his ankle today and is undergoing further evaluation.”
After seven games played, Winston suffered a torn ACL last season. He signed a two-year contract to stay in New Orleans as a free agent after the team failed in its pursuit of a Deshaun Watson trade.
The Saints can move on from Winston after the 2022 season with minimal cap damage if they choose to do so.
In seven games, he threw for 1,170 yards, 14 touchdowns, and just three interceptions before his injury.
