Michael Thomas and the New Orleans Saints are trying to hammer out a long-term contract extension, but the two sides are said to far apart in what numbers works to come to an agreement.
It has already been reported that the Saints were willing to make him the highest paid WR in the game, which would put him at around $18 million per season.
It seems Thomas thinks he deserves way more.
Jeff Duncan of Nola.com notes that the two sides are roughly $4 million apart on extension talks, with Thomas just know bringing his number down to $22 million a year.
If he came down to $22 million, where exactly was the number before that? That is just an absurd amount of money for a guy who is good, but not viewed in the top-3 of WR’s in the game right now.
Cleveland Browns wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr., who is way better, currently makes $18M a year after he signed a five-year, $90 million contract with his then-New York Giants team back in 2018.

In his first three seasons as a pro, Thomas has hauled in 321 passes on of 417 targets for 3,787 yards and 23 touchdowns.
These negotiations might stretch well into training camp.
