Saints’ Michael Thomas Doesn’t Report To Training Camp Amid Contract Dispute; Facing Heavy Fines

Michael Thomas is all set to take big hits to his bank account as he drew his line in the sand on Thursday when he did not report to training camp with the rest of the team, as he holds firm on his stance for a new contract.

The #Saints have reported and WR Michael Thomas has not arrived at the facility, sources tell me and @MikeGarafolo. He’s seeking a new deal and the two sides are not there yet. Until they get there, he’ll stay away.

The New Orleans Saints wide receiver is set to make $1.148 million this season as he enters the final year of his rookie contract.

It is no question that the 26-year-old has outplayed his current deal, which is why he is looking for a a contract worth $20 million annually.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter then reported Thomas could be facing fines up to $40,000 for each day of training camp that he misses.

Starting today, Saints' WR Michael Thomas can be fined $40,000 for each day of training camp that he misses, under Article 42 and Section 1 of the CBA.
