New Orleans Saints wide receiver Michael Thomas broke his silence on his arrest from Friday night by using some humor.
As noted by ESPN’s Katherine Terrell, Thomas was arrested by Penner police on Friday night and charged with criminal mischief and simple battery. Thomas allegedly engaged in a confrontation with a construction worker in his neighborhood.
Per Terrell, the man claims that Thomas threatened him and threw a brick at the windshield of his vehicle. Police held Thomas for about three hours before releasing the 30-year-old at around 10 p.m. local time.
On Saturday morning, Thomas broke his silence by posting a GIF of a man saying, “Could y’all stay off my grass please? Thank you.”
The GIF is from the 1995 film “Friday”, which starred Chris Tucker, Bernie Mac, Ice Cube, Nia Long and Tommy Lister Jr.
The Saints are visiting the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday afternoon. Thomas is expected to play in that game, though nothing has been confirmed yet.
