CJ Gardner-Johnson is actively praying on Ryan Tannehill’s downfall.
The New Orleans Saints defensive back replied to a clip of Titans starter Ryan Tannehill saying it’s not his job to mentor Malik Willis and said he hopes the incoming rookie takes his job as a result:
The Titans were the No. 1 seed in the AFC last season and figure to be among the contenders once again in 2022, but it would be harder to do after the team traded away AJ Brown. Tannehill has been the Titans’ starter the last three seasons, leading them to three straight postseason appearances.
Willis landed in a strong place for his long-term development. The Titans have Ryan Tannehill in place for at least next season as their starting quarterback, allowing Willis to take a backseat while he catches up to NFL speed. He won’t get first-hand knowledge since Tannehill made it clear it’s not his job to mentor him.
The 22-year-old Willis started for two years at Liberty after transferring over from Auburn. He led them to a 17-6 record in his two seasons.
