Sage Steele has never been shy about sharing her views. And while that was a key factor in her departure from ESPN, it could be opening the door for a potential new career for the popular sports host.
According to a story that was first reported by Daily Ructions (and has since been confirmed by the New York Post), Steele has had “exploratory conversations” with “Republican leaders and donors in Washington and Connecticut” who are hoping she’ll consider running for congress in Connecticut’s fifth district.
Steele was recently involved in a lawsuit against ESPN, where she accused the company of displaying a double-standard when they suspended her for making comments about vaccine mandates on Jay Cutler’s podcast back in 2021.
The two sides just recently settled their case, and Steele left the network for good.
If Steele does decide to take up the Republicans on their offer and run for congress in Connecticut’s fifth district, she would be running against the Democratic Party’s Jahana Hayes. In 2022, she won her third term by beating state senator George Logan by just 1,800 votes.
Ever since her saga with ESPN, Steele has been eager to share her political views on many aspects in the sports world, from transgender athletes to Colin Kaepernick.
