A blockbuster trade proposal has an intriguing NFC team landing Tennessee Titans quarterback Ryan Tannehill.
The 2019 NFL Comeback Player of the Year is entering the final year of his contract with the club. The Titans used the No. 33 selection of this year’s draft on Kentucky signal-caller Will Levis — a strong indicator that they’re not factoring Tannehill into their long-term plans.
If the Titans were to put Tannehill on the trade block before the season, a number of teams would surely be quick to call GM Ran Carthon about a possible move.
Bleacher Report’s Maurice Moton proposed five blockbuster trade ideas that would shake up the 2023 NFL postseason race. One of Moton’s proposals? Tannehill and a 2024 fourth-round pick to the Atlanta Falcons in exchange for a 2024 third-rounder:
“If the Falcons acquired Tannehill from the Titans, we shouldn’t be completely shocked because of his history with head coach Arthur Smith, who served as his offensive coordinator between 2019 and 2020…
Smith could make a call to Tennessee for Tannehill. He probably wouldn’t have to pry the soon-to-be 35-year-old from the Titans. With new general manager Ran Carthon calling the shots, Tennessee moved up in the second round of the draft for Levis.
In a wide-open NFC South that features Derek Carr as its top quarterback, the Falcons can compete for a division title with a decent offense. Remember, once upon a time, Tannehill won 2019 Comeback Player of the Year under Smith’s tutelage.”
As Moton noted, Smith was the Titans’ offensive coordinator in 2019 and 2020, when Tannehill posted his two best seasons as a professional. Tannehill led the Titans to the 2019 AFC Championship Game and to consecutive AFC South division titles in 2020 and 2021.

The Titans are entering preseason with Desmond Ridder and free agent pickup Taylor Heinicke atop their QB depth chart. But adding a more proven option like Tannehill would arguably make Atlanta the team to beat in the division.
In 12 game appearances last year, Tannehill completed 65.2 percent of his pass attempts for 13 touchdowns and six interceptions.
