Ryan Leaf’s name has been synonymous with the term “draft bust” for a long time. And, while he’ll be the first to tell you that he did not live up to expectations after getting drafted in 1998, he’s not going to allow people to keep lying about him.
The 98 Draft was the one in which Peyton Manning went No. 1 overall and joined the Indianapolis Colts. Leaf, who was drafted second overall by the then-San Diego Chargers, has had to live with the bust tag for the last quarter of a century, which has led to serious mental health issues, as well as jail time.
Speaking on Good Morning Football this week, he exposed former Colts GM Bill Polian for lying about that infamous draft story that admittedly went pretty well with the bust label.
Polian recently made claims of Leaf’s pre-draft meeting with the Colts going horribly in an interview with The 33rd Team. But Leaf has pointed out that the meeting never happened and he has never even met Polian as he ended up getting an MRI done on the scheduled date.

This is a pretty bad look for Polian, especially as Leaf noted that the MRI is documented.
The 46-year-old has had to live with the burden of being the first one football fans mention when the word bust comes up in a conversation. So he could definitely do with someone not making up a story that makes matters worse.
